First, I want to thank all of you ladies for your kind comments about my hat, and also for suggestions for online knitting help. ROFL Hmmm, any of you up for a weekend at Ship's Landing? Free room and board, meals included!! All that's required is that you can teach me in a weekend how to knit these blasted fingerless gloves!!! ROFL I howled when I read Angela's question about taking the picture of the back of my head with the hat on...my darling husband did that honor! LOL We flew out, lickety-split, this a.m. and got our Christmas tree. I still have to have a cut tree. Then I had to do a shop at Wally World cause my quilty niece is coming in the morning for a quilting retreat weekend here at my house. Yeaaaaaaa!!! How fun is that??? Randy has a business trip out of town this weekend, so we will just eat, cut, sew, laugh, maybe run out to Ben Franklin and/or Wally World, MAYBE put the lights on the tree, eat, cut, sew some more...well, you all know about quilt retreat weekends!! I'm sooo excited. We're thinking about working on Christmas tablerunners. I'm also thinking about trying to figure out Libby's Tree Angel without a pattern to go by. I can't find that pattern anywhere to purchase. If any of you should run across it, would you mind giving me a yell? It's "Tree Angel" by Ginger Cookie Company. Glorie and I always have such a great time together, and the time ALWAYS races away way too fast. It's like an early Christmas present to me to have her come the first weekend in December. :D I promise I will get some pictures up here sometime soon. I want to show you our woodpile. LOL I'm soooo going to enjoy burning it!!! :) And I'll have to show you some pictures of my Christmas runners. Wish I were like Spiral Jeanne and had bed quilts to show you, but most of my bed size stuff are flimsies. Anyway, I'll try to get a couple of pictures this weekend of our "retreat" to show off too. :)

I'm just not brave enough yet to put a picture of myself up here...and certainly not one with this hat on ! ROFL However, I did want to share what I crocheted last Friday afternoon. I've been seeing all of these knitted hats and fingerless gloves...well, I don't know how to knit, although I'm trying desperately to learn...so, I found a free hat pattern online for crochet and made that instead. I'm now waiting on an order of wool yarn to arrive so I can try my hand at crocheting another style of hat and felting it. What I really really want are those fingerless gloves, and there are free knitting patterns for them, but I haven't been able to find exactly the same kind of pattern for crocheted ones. Soooo, I've been told that those fingerless gloves AREN'T beginner material LOL and the only person I know who knows how to do ANY knitting at all says she can only knit and purl. We were trying to figure out how to work with 3 needles this past weekend (ROFL) as that is how you make these gloves BUTTTTT we weren't successful. LOL As a matter of fact, we were pretty hilarious. :-O Anyway, that's what I'm into right now. I did spend a bit of time yesterday trying to make a path into my sewing rooms, but mercy, there's tons more to do before we can get in there and play! :) I have some sea oats that a neighbor shared with me that I'm headed outside to plant right now, and then I'm off to the sewing rooms to sling more stuff from one pile onto another one! Where is Rabbit Stitchings when you need that girl???ROFL

Momma Rina and Madison Madison Daddy Shannon and McKinley Randy, McKinley and Madison We had a wonderful time...in our house the norm is the pitter-patter of 8 little feet (dogs LOL). This Thanksgiving it was the pitter-patter of 2 little feet (my great-niece *huge grins*). And one little one crawling around cleaning Aunt Angie's floor for her!! LOL As one of my sisters said, a taste of what one must have if they have grandchildren to come home for the Holidays. :) We have soooo much every day to be thankful for! And in addition to all of the every-day gratitudes that I try not to take for granted, we get to have Shannon, Rina, McKinley and Madison with us for Thanksgiving Day. This is the third year---and what a special tradition this is becoming! And as far as I know, the rest of my siblings all had a good Thanksgiving too. :) So many blessings! Now it's time to turn all of the attention to Christmas!!! Wow, where did this year go? That "memory bank" is filling up faster every year! LOL I gathered up Fall wallhangings, tablerunners, and various and sundry items to store away for another year. *sigh* So how many of you, my blogger buddies, were out at 4 a.m. on Friday for "black Friday" shopping???? LOL Not this ole girl, I can tell you!! Not even if they were giving it away! Of course, I'm not much for shopping at ANY time (well, okay, unless it's at a quilt shop or quilt show with vendors LOL)!! I have paperwork to do today. So I'll get that out of the way and then start digging out my sewing rooms. LOL That's where I shoved everything and shut the doors while we did Thanksgiving. Now, I have tons to sort out in those two rooms. Have to make room to move and play in there as my quilting niece, Glorie, is coming for a play date next weekend! :-D I can't wait!! Just wanted to let everyone know that I hadn't completely faded away. :) Hope everyone had a wonderful, blessed Thanksgiving!

I have finished all of the applique that I'm going to add on this. So, what do you think? Is it a pillow or a wallhanging? Hmmmm... By the way, that Blackbird landed so hard on the acorn that he knocked it catty-wampus. *g* Now I wish I had been working on something with a turkey on it instead of a Blackbird, and had made a "November" wallhanging or pillow. LOL I'm always lagging behind. I used to be the same way about buying clothes (all those long years ago when I did such a thing!!! ROFL). I wasn't ready to buy summer things until it was hot, like maybe July or August?? And by the time I got around to that, why the Winter clothes were already out!!!! Well, I'm the same way with quilting. I only want to do "it" in "it's" immediate season...duh...makes it kind of hard to stay current with as slow as I am with this stuff. ROFL Randy left this morning for a show in St. Louis, MO. We were really worried that his connecting flight might get canceled due to weather since he was going through Cincinnati, but he made it safe and sound. I'm always relieved when I know he's on the ground safely at his destination. I wiled away the day in front of the fire finishing up this applique. Dewey, Badger and Homer Kitty were gathered all around me asleep on the couch. Of course, I had to catch up on my blog reading too. :) It has rained all day and the wind has really been howling. I love days like this when I can be all snug in my house, and everyone that I love is safe in their own spots. :) Some days (well, okay, a LOT of days LOL) I'm a day late and a dollar short. I just realized yesterday that Thanksgiving is NEXT week, not WEEK AFTER NEXT. Guess I better use some of this time that Randy is gone to try to get my house tidied up and in some sort of order as we will have some family in for a couple of days for Thanksgiving. How can it be the middle of November already? I feel like I've lost a large part of this year just because it went by so very fast!!! And next Friday is the frenzied (not on my part, I assure you!! LOL) kick off of the Christmas/shopping season. Time is moving as fast as those little hummingbirds' wings that I love to watch all summer. :)

(The idea for the candlemat and the leaf fabric came from my dear friend, Evonne....thanks, girlfriend!) :D This is a little flannel candlemat that I made recently. Really a quick little project. Great for instant satisfaction. :D The other side is a Winter flannel so I can just flip it over after Thanksgiving. I've almost finished appliquing the Jan Patek piece, so I'll post a picture of it in a couple of days. Thought you might like to Homer Kitty's little Halloween face. He really is a Halloween cat. He's very black with a sparse sprinkling of white threaded through his coat. The light from the camera doesn't do his shiny black coat justice. :) It made it up to 56 today, and the sun finally came out about Noon, so it felt like a heat wave compared to the days we've had lately. So I cleared the marigolds from my flowerbeds. I had a gazillion volunteer marigolds this summer. I really enjoyed them. I wanted to try dyeing wool with them but you know that dang "round two it"? LOL Well it just never showed up so I decided today was the day for them to go. So glad I got that little chore done. I have a couple of volunteer holly bushes that have sprouted up that I hope to get moved tomorrow. The ground is just right for transplanting since we had rain on Saturday. I really hope the hollies live. I've always wanted one of the holly trees. Had tons of energy today. Felt better than I've felt in a couple of months. Maybe the lethargy is about to vaporize. :) I even went for a walk this afternoon. I have just been so draggy for so long, I had just about forgotten what it was like to have some energy. :D I have a roast with potatoes and carrots in the crockpot, and I will make a pan of cornbread to have with that. I also made a Cool Whip Fruit Salad that is absolutely yummy!! I've been wanting it for over a week now, so I may just have to eat LOTS of it!!! *grins* Thought some of you might enjoy this recipe as well. Cool whip Fruit Salad 1 reg.size cream cheese, softened 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1 large container Cool Whip 1/2 c. lemon juice 1 small can crushed pineapple, drained 2 reg.size cans fruit cocktail, drained 2-3 bananas, sliced 1 small bunch white grapes, halved 1 cup pecans or walnuts Drain fruit well. Cream cheese at low speed. Add sweetened condensed milk, mix well. Add cool whip, mix well, add lemon juice, mix well. Stir in fruits and nuts. Garnish with coconut and cinnamon sprinkled on top. Chill.

It has been one of those laid back, just slow and easy weekends, around here. Just perfect. The weather has been really chilly, rainy yesterday, and just dreary and perfect for a fire in the stove today. Sug (my sister) and I had a playdate with a friend in the nearby tiny town, and actually got a bit of Christmas spirit. We had a great time, but then again, we generally do when we're together. LOL I even ran into town and picked up pizza for our dinner tonight. That's something we rarely do since it takes about 40 minutes round-trip, but I really had a hankering for Pizza Hut's thin and crispy veggie pizza, so I told Randy "I'll fly if you buy". LOL Blogger doesn't want me to put pictures up today. I'm still appliquing on my Jan Patek wallhanging, and I'm still working on Judy's October leaves. I'm even still (in my head LOL) doing Halloween. There's a pattern on my perpetual calendar that I keep on my cutting table of a black background with "Boo" pieced that I keep thinking I just have to make---I haven't even flipped that calendar over to November yet!! ROFL If I don't hurry up, it's going to be ready to flip the December calendar over, so I've either got to cut and sew that block up lickety-split or forget it for another year. What do you think?? And another question for you quilty bloggers...how in the world do you guys get so much stuff sewn, house cleaned, food bought and cooked, work a day job, have kids screaming when you walk in the door, post on your own blog and read all the bunches of others' blogs that you want to keep up with, and STILL you make quilty things right and left----oh yeah, and you actually FINISH them???? LOL I really would like some answers to this last question, please. :) For those of you who asked about my snowman, he's cut from a scrap of "warm and white" batting. I'm going to give him a carrot nose, some eyes, and buttons--eventually. LOL Right now, I'm going in by the fire now, and do a bit more applique. I do believe my husband is watching another one of those movies that he's "never seen before" which means he watches it EVERY time it comes on TV. LOL I'm hoping to get back to posting more frequently as it appears that my computer server problems may have been resolved (fingers and toes crossed). Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Whoa, can't believe it actually published that post yesterday! Maybe the gremlins are tired of hearing from me, and have decided to go ahead and restore my computer to its proper working order. :) Wow, look!!! Pictures and a post!! Wooohooo! This is the little snowman door hanging. I thought I might make a couple of these. And this is Homer Kitty, for Nancy, and Ragdolls, and ALL of those other kitty/quilter blogger friends out there. LOL He was sleeping on his back. :) Homer was a stray that showed up at our house on a frigid day in January several years ago. He was a very sick little fella. The vet fixed him up (after about a month of working with him), and he came to live with us. He's an awesome hunter (I really wish he weren't soooo inclined to hunt), and is a real people person as well. He's a wonderful companion. :) I mixed up a new sour dough starter last week, and actually have 3 loaves of bread rising as we speak. With a bit of luck, we should have fresh baked bread and beef stew for dinner. Yum! :) But in order to have that, I have to get up from here and get the stew in the crockpot. :D Thanks to all of you who sent greetings to me while I've been unable to do anything but check my "comments". I've missed being "out playing" with all of you! :) Hopefully, we're at the end of the siege.

I'm sooooo not happy at this moment. I've tried every day since the last post to get one up. No luck. I spent alllllll day on the phone again today with Hughes.net. If you don't have to DON'T get satellite!!! I've been dealing with this for a week now, and they keep telling me to run tests and log the results, then call back in a couple of days. Doesn't matter that this is a business computer....oh no, well, so sorry, just keep trying. I'm only doing this typing as a lark to see if it will load. Hope all of my blogger buddies are okay. I miss being able to put "stuff" up. :( I'm working on my Jan Patek wallhanging, doing some rug hooking, and making a little snowman door hanging from AP&Q. Would love to share pictures with you but.... I'll keep trying! :)

We are having major computer difficulties. We have satellite, and there's always a problem with upload. However, our download has really gotten screwed up. Now we're in a holding pattern waiting for the "engineers" with Hughes to contact us. Hopefully, we will get this resolved the first of the week. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

It's a brisk morning here in NE TN. The little gold finches are huddled around the feeder, and have changed their wardrobe from gold/cream for those winter coats of browns/tans. The temp this morning of 37 is a far cry from those warm temps yesterday morning when I sat on the porch having my coffee. But I love the winter days in their own way as much as I do those wonderful warm days. It's supposed to be down to 28 tonight--that's cold--and we have to go out this evening to the funeral home. I have nothing to wear. Closets are stuffed full but nothing that fits the season nor the body. LOL If we were going to be home I would definitely be building me a fire tonight...maybe Randy will have one going in the morning for me to get up and sit by. :D He always gets out of bed before I do. *g* Wanted to show you my progress with the Jan Patek piece. I love playing with these large pieces. I'm going to put a vine on the left side and some leaves---I can call it "End of Summer". :) Thanks for the kind comments about my "fabric closet mess". Free room and board for those of you with the organizational O/C disorder! ROFL Linda said we had to start with moving the stuff out of the floor so I can get to the fabrics, but where to put it---well, now, that's the million dollar question as you haven't seen the floor of the room that that closet is located in!!!!! ROFL I maintain my agility by climbing OVER stuff!! LOL Have to get up from here...miles to go, and all of that! Have a good day.

I can't believe it!!!!! Blogger finally decided the world could see my frightening Halloween mess!! LOL The hanging divided bags hold felted, deconstructed wool. :) The red to the lower right is the top of another wool stash that is felted but has yet to be deconstructed. :D And the vest hanging over the rod in the upper left are waiting for me to decide what to applique on them (they've only been there a few years LOL). Now be kind...I know it's a mess...I'm taking all volunteers for reorganization...food and sleeping arrangements provided! ROFL
I'm still not having any luck posting pictures again today. I have no idea what the problem is so here's a place you can go see that "frightful mess" if you're so inclined LOL : www.agsquilter.wordpress.com. I'm so discouraged with blogger right now, I'm serious ly considering moving my blog. We'll see. Since I'm really computer-challenged, I hate to have to start over. Wordpress seems a bit more daunting to me, probably justbecause I haven't had the time to play with it yet. But when I posted that picture last night, it was up just lickety-split. McIrish Annie asked for the authors of the natural dye books that I posted some time back. "Craft of the Dyer, Colour from Plants and Lichens" is by Karen Leigh Casselman, and "The Complete Natural Dyeing Guide" by Marie Sugar and is published by Rug Hooking Magazine. I bought both of these from Amazon.com. The Complete Natural Dyeing Guide has "89 natural dye recipes for rug hookers and other fiber artists". :D It's a beautiful morning but it looks like cooler temperatures are on the way. Time to pull out some flannel jammies. :D I can't believe today is Nov. 1 and I've been sitting on my porch having my coffee and reading quilt magazines. Just wonderful! I should have been out for a walk instead of sitting. Maybe I'll still go for a walk.
