On A Roll

The color in these photos is not good, but it's a cold, grey, blustery day and I didn't have the flash on on the camera.  The leaf quilt is as long as it's going to get, and I pieced the Giant Star (tutorial by Jeni Baker http://www.incolororder.com/2011/08/giant-vintage-star-quilt-tutorial.html) over the last couple of days.  I don't know how long she has had that tutorial out there, but every time I've come across it or a quilt made by her tutorial, I've wanted to make one.  Now it can start aging while I decide on my next top---I'm already thinking it may be a quilt called Turning Leaves.  The leaf block is pieced.  I also want to make more Skinny Churn Dash blocks AND I definitely need a Giant Churn Dash quilt.  There's also the sorta-Giant Courthouse Steps log cabin that keeps calling my name, along with a few others.  Hmmm... :D

Marlee is at the vet's having her teeth cleaned.  She also has a swollen right front foot.  Vet thinks she may have stubbed her 'toe'.  At least no bones are broken in it.  She also had a pre-molar that was becoming infected, so it was a good thing I took her in when I did.  I'm headed out to bring her home now.

I won this awesome give away on Diane's blog.  I can't wait to try these out.  Thank you so much, Diane, for these awesome goodies.  :)

I am totally loving my new yellow shoes.  I just may have to have another pair in red.  :)  And this is my latest new block---Double Skinny Churn Dash---using http://hoosiertoni.blogspot.com/2013/08/skinny-churn-dash-and-variations.html  this tutorial.  Toni has a wonderful blog, and her tutorials are awesome.  Thanks so much, Toni, for sharing with us.

Playing in the leaves

I think it's large enough to suit me now.  It's about 50 x 60".  Now if it were just quilted and bound...

Happy November

This is how far I got with this before I ran out of steam today.  I'm lovin' it :)  I fell in love with Kelly's Giant Log Cabins, and decided I just had to make one too.  Here's a link to her blog http://myquiltinfatuation.blogspot.com/2013/06/giant-log-cabin-quilt-tutorial.html

I couldn't believe that there was a johnny-jumpup blooming in the yard at the end of October.  Yesterday evening I decided to pull out ancient leaf fabrics and make a quilt.  As of this morning, this is how far I've gotten.  It feels WONDERFUL to finally be playing in all of this fabric stash that is destined to dry-rot if I don't get on with chopping and sewing.  My little pillow is in memory of Dewey and Badger, and my friend, Donna's in NC Otis and Riley.
