Skipping Right Into

Summer! It's 90 degs here right now. What happened to that beautiful season we used to call Spring? :) Oh, I am so glad, tho, to see the sun shine and feel the warmth!! Just a gorgeous day here at Ships Landing.

What a BEAUTIFUL Morning

even though it's only 25 deg. :) The birds are loving the early morning sunshine. So am I. I feel like I haven't seen a sunrise in forever! Yesterday was the first morning I watched the sun top the ridge in months. I accomplished absolutely NOTHING yesterday because I ran in and out all day just to feel the sunlight on my face. :) I took Bayley and Marlee for their first walk together since the beginning of December. Homer Kitty even tagged along for the walk (and spent the night out...still isn't home--I do hope he's okay). It was so much fun. Only a short one. I didn't want to overdo it with Bayley. He is doing so well--knock on wood--and the forecast promised another beautiful day for today, so I wanted to be able to let them outside to play a bit today too. :) They are so much fun to be with now that Bayley is just about recovered from his leg surgery. This has been a LONG, COLD, HARD Winter here at Ships Landing, and we are ALL ready for sunshine and budding nature. :)

Last Day of February 2010

So, I just had my 54th birthday, and my friend asked me what I would like to accomplish in this new year. I'm sure I gave her an answer without putting much thought, at the time, into it. Having had the question to haunt the nether regions of my feeble little brain, and finding myself focusing on it more and more, I decided to put into words what jumps to the forefront of my mind.......To live even more in the moment, to pull each moment on like a snuggly sweater and revel in just that moment, one by one, as each of them fly so quickly past that I feel like this must be like what it would be to hang-glide. To breathe in tension, frustration, negativity, transform it, and exhale more light, peace and harmony. To learn more~~about me and what is important to me~~ to walk more gently, treading more lightly, leaving smaller and smaller 'footprints'~~learning how to harvest and treasure more the things in life that delight me~~family, friends, pets, birds, critters from the woods; to plant and grow more, and destroy less

Can Spring Be Far Behind?

Yesterday was such a beautiful warm day that I had to just go outside with the camera and capture a picture of my little Chickadee who is venturing closer and closer to the house feeder. The Bluebirds finally returned from their Bermuda vacation...no, they don't normally wander quite so far on their Winter vacation but this January and February have been so cold they just locked up the condos and flew. :)

6+ Inches of Snow!

We finally got some snow!!!! :) I have put a link to my Snapfish photo albums for anyone interested in snow and/or bird pictures. :) And we didn't lose our power! :) And BOTH computers are working again (after being out of commission, more than not, the last two months) :). I have spent hours outside, toes numb, fingers warmed by constantly refilled coffee mug, camera in hand. I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed this snowfall!! The birds have been such a delight. Mostly goldfinches and pine siskins, and I have some resident sparrows that make me smile. I did have a Juncoe this morning! :) Unfortunately I had Bayley out to do his business and didn't have the camera. I'm hoping she/he will come back so I can get a picture. :)

Bayley Update

We got Bayley back to UT Vet School on Wednesday. He's doing really great...the way the space between the two bone pieces is filling in is amazing! The biggest problem is that the pin is migrating out of the bone a bit. They would like it to stay in place another 4 weeks; that means he has to be restricted another 4 weeks. That is tough on a puppy, but he's cooperating. :) If we can all just hang in there for another few weeks, hopefully he will be ready to run and romp with Marlee when Spring arrives. :)
