One of my new butterfly bushes that I planted about a month ago has bestowed one large blossom to usher in Fall. :)

Nice - almost look like lilac! Don't know about your area, but here in SC they need to be pruned back nearly to the ground (not your fresh, new ones, but after they have woody stems) to see new growth and more blooms next year. They will bloom again if you don't, but not nearly as much!
We have Budliea here too, ours usually flower in Summer.
